Milling and overlay projects on U.S. 56 are scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 17, in Pawnee County.

A $146,239 project will cover less than a mile on U.S. 56 from the Pawnee/Barton County line east to the east city limits of Pawnee Rock in Barton County.

A $1,560,085 project will cover just more than seven miles on U.S. 56 from the east city limits of Larned east to the Pawnee/Barton county line.

Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the primary contractor for both projects.

Traffic will be controlled with a flagging and pilot car operation.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs and “Give ’Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. Persons with questions about this road work or other KDOT projects may call South Central Kansas Public Affairs Manager Deb Gruver at 620-663-3361.
