Dogs picked up by humane society

The Golden Belt Humane Society picked up three dogs Saturday afternoon at 329 Maple St., after someone reported they were out in the heat with no water or shelter. A 21-year-old woman was served a notice to appear in municipal court for alleged cruelty to animals.
Another caller on Sunday afternoon reported seeing a small pit bull puppy outside without water on 16th St. The owner was contacted and advised of the complaint.
The Humane Society picked up a small black dog at 210 Fruit St. Sunday afternoon, after a 7-year-old child was reportedly bitten. Citations were issued.
