A Great Bend man was arrested Thursday on an existing Barton County warrant and later charged with drug possession during a stop conducted by a Great Bend Police Department officer Thursday afternoon.
Great Bend Police Chief Steven Haulmark reported that at approximately 4:14 p.m. Thursday, a GBPD officer stopped a bicyclist near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Williams Street. The cyclist, identified as Joshua Kelly, 25, Great Bend, was confirmed to have a warrant for his arrest in Barton County and was placed under arrest.
Kelly was transported to the Barton County Detention Center, where staff informed the officer that a syringe filled with a clear liquid, as well as marijuana, were located in Kelly’s belongings. Kelly then informed the officer that the liquid was methamphetamine.
Kelly was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. He was booked in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
