Hot enough, but no fire at GB business Wednesday
on the record

The Great Bend Fire Department responded to what was reported as a structure fire as temperatures passed the century mark Wednesday afternoon. The call came in at approximately 3;54 p.m. from 10th Street Eye Care Center at 2601 10th St. in Great Bend.

Upon arrival, firefighters attempted to locate a fire source, but no flames nor smoke were visible. They then employed the use of a thermal camera, which did register an elevated heat source in the building. The report was downgraded to heat activation, the department reported.

Alarm sensors were reset and the scene was cleared, the department said.
