Illegal drugs including approximately one pound of suspected fentanyl were recovered and an arrest made by Barton County Sheriff’s officers as the result of a traffic stop Monday in Great Bend, Sheriff Brian Bellendir reported Thursday.
Sheriff Bellendir noted that deputies were conducting a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Parrish Road when they became suspicious of illegal drug activity. K-9 Maxx was deployed and indicated the presence of controlled substances. Further investigation revealed a baggie containing approximately one pound of suspected fentanyl, as well as quantities of methamphetamine, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Lisa Gomez, 54, of Sioux City, N.M., the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested and transported to Barton County Jail without incident. She was booked on requested charges of distribution of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, distribution of marijuana, possession of prescription narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of alcohol.
She is being held in lieu of $300,000 bond.
