Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters had eight Emergency Medical Service calls on Thursday. There were no fires.

Great Bend Police
Angela Ingram was driving south in the 1500 block of K-96 at 7:39 a.m. Thursday and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Karen Smith, that struck a vehicle driven by Edward Galliart Jr., who was eastbound on Broadway.
Gary Ketch was southbound on U.S. 281 Bypass at 8:31 a.m. and slid on ice. The vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Kurtin Wingwald, who was westbound on 10th St.
Unlawful use of a credit card was reported.
A storage shed at 200 McKinley was broken into. Theft of a gun safe and two dirt bikes was reported. Police also received a report that someone cut the locking bars on two of the storage sheds.
A 19-year-old male reportedly shoplifted a frozen dinner valued at $3.24 at Dillon’s, 4107 10th St.
Josh Durr was driving south on Main at 9:07 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Caroline Johnson, who was also southbound in the 2400 block of Main.

Barton County Sheriff
Someone drove through a yard at 277 Liberty Road around 3 a.m. Wednesday, causing damage.
A vehicle hit a deer on K-156 at NE 130 Ave. at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.
A vehicle hit a fence in the 400 block of NW 70 Ave. at 10:58 a.m. Thursday. KHP responded.
Theft of a 500-gallon propane tank from NW 40 Road and NW 140 Ave. was reported.
Officers obtained a warrant Thursday  to search for narcotics at 212 Pine St. The K-9 was called in and suspected narcotics were found.
 A Jeep driven by Cody Dunn hit a deer in the 1400 or 1500 block of NE 20 Ave. sometime before 3:17 a.m. Friday.

Kansas Highway Patrol
At 9:18 a.m. Thursday, motorist Gary E. Goskett, 56, Sterling, lost control of a Ford van on the icy Interstate 135 in Saline County and struck a car, causing both vehicles to hit the inside guardrail in the median. Foskett was taken to Salina Regional Health Center; no one else was injured.
A fatal accident occurred at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in Ford County on U.S. 50, less than a mile west of 126 Road. A semitrailer driven by John R. Martin, 29, Pleasanton, and a Honda driven by James Franklin Pivonka, 74, McCracken, were westbound. There were blizzard conditions which caused an eastbound GMC van driven by Argelio Menchaca Gaytan, 59, of Dallas, Texas, to cross into oncoming traffic and hit the trailer of the semi. The Honda then ran into the van as well. Roy Gaytan, 21, a passenger in the GMC, was killed and Argelio Gayton suffered possible injuries. Both were taken to Western Plains Hospital in Dodge City. Martin and Pivonka also suffered possible injury. All were wearing seat belts.
