Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service made 12 ambulance runs on Monday.

Firefighters responded to 2301 Jackson St. at 7:57 a.m. when the occupant was working by his garage and smelled something hot. No hot spots or hazards were found but Wheatland Electric was notified as a precautionary measure.


Great Bend Police

An outside agency assist was provided to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office on a traffic arrest at 3:10 a.m. Monday at Broadway and Hubbard St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 11:33 a.m. at Kwik Shop, 3907 Broadway Ave.

A traffic arrest was reported at 3:52 p.m. at Walmart, 3503 10th St. Shane Stewart was arrested for DUI, methamphetamine and paraphernalia possession and traffic offenses.

A non-injury crash was reported at 4:04 p.m. at Walmart.

A request for a DRE (drug recognition expert) was reported 4:33 p.m. at the jail, in reference to a traffic arrest.

A theft was reported at 7:36 p.m. at 5102 17th St.

A narcotics violation warrant arrest was made at 11:50 p.m. at Great Bend High School, 2027 Morton St. Joyce Garcia was arrested on a Rooks County warrant, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp and booked at Barton County Jail.


Barton County Sheriff’s Office

A warrant arrest was made at 3:10 a.m. Monday at Broadway Ave. and Hubbard St. in Great Bend.

An injury crash was reported at 5:56 p.m. Monday East of Great Bend on U.S. 56 at mile marker 208.

A non-injury crash was reported at 8:32 p.m. at SW 20 Ave. and SW 30 Road, Great Bend.
