Minor injuries were reported Saturday when two vehicles collided at 5:26 p.m. on NW 10 Ave., about half a mile north of NW 30 Road.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Calvin Hinz, 30, of Hoisington was driving south in a Dodge Durango, and David McDowell, 40, also of Hoisington, was in an oncoming Ford Taurus that was kicking up a lot of dirt so that Hinz did not immediately see there was another vehicle. Both vehicles were in the middle of the road.
Hinz swerved left to avoid hitting the car head-on, but the Durango clipped the right side of the Taurus, causing it to spin into the west ditch. The Durango entered the east ditch and rolled one complete time.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. They were looked at the by Great Bend Ambulance service and both refused treatment at the scene. McDowell was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington by private vehicle.
Hinz was cited for no proof of insurance and McDowell was cited for revoked driver’s license. Both vehicles were removed by Marshall’s towing.
