Ubers newest plan wants to lift you into the sky.

Uber recently unveiled its plan to have a new network called Elevate that will reportedly offer electric aircraft vehicles that can take off and land after spending time in the air. So, flying cars.

These cars will allow people to get from one place to another without driving on highways.

These arent flying cars in the sense that they both drive on the ground and soar through the air, according to WIRED. Uber is using the much more exciting, Jetsons sense of the term: A future that lifts you over the brutality of traffic jams and congested roads.

Uber wont build these cars on its own. The plan calls for the transportation company to gather government agencies, private businesses and independent agencies together to solve a pile of technical, regulatory and infrastructural problems, from battery density to aircraft certification to air traffic control, WIRED reported.

Jeff Holden, Ubers product chief, told WIRED that getting all these parties together will make the dream of flying cars a reality.

If you can do all those things, he said, youve got the potential for a new transportation method.
