Alan E. Bartholomew 1946-2015

Alan E. Bartholomew, 69, of Stotts City, Mo., died July 27, 2015, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born Feb. 3, 1946, at Great Bend, the son of Earl and Mary Slankard Bartholomew. He grew up and went to school in Great Bend. Following graduation from Great Bend High School, he attended Pittsburg State in Pittsburg. While there he met Linda Blancet. They were married on June 4, 1967, in Benedict. She passed away on Feb. 20, 1995.
After school he went to work for Hesston Corp. in Hesston, a tool design company in Newton, Century Plastics in El Dorado, and Bartholomew and Assoc. in Oklahoma City, Okla., before moving to Missouri where he lived the remainder of his life. In retirement years he worked for several assisted living facilities in maintenance.
Mr. Bartholomew was a member of the Risen Ranch Cowboy Church in Carthage, Mo.
Survivors include a brother, Phillip Bartholomew of Great Bend; and a sister, Diana Wagner of Great Bend; two aunts, Lois Bartholomew of Yukon, Okla., and Leona Slankard of Great Bend; and long-time companion Gloria Breshears of Stotts City, Mo.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at his church in Carthage, Mo., with the Pastor Steve Stafford officiating. Memorials can be made to the Risen Ranch Cowboy Church Building Fund in care of the church, at 11838 Civil War Ave. in Carthage. There will be a memorial service in Great Bend at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Faith Community Church, with a lunch following at the church Family Center. Pastor Sandy Kennedy will be officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Cancer Center or the donor’s choice, in care of Faith Community Church, 293 West Barton County Road (W 10th St.), Great Bend, KS 66050.
