Alan Kent Christians 1955-2012

LINDSBORG — Alan Kent Christians, 57, of Lindsborg, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Nov. 16, 2012.
He was born April 16, 1955, to John E. and Anna Lou (Reynolds) Christians in Hoisington.
He grew up on the family farm near Beaver, and attended Claflin High School. He attended college at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he earned his degree in mortuary science. He used that education to serve others all of his life as a funeral director in Oklahoma City, Great Bend and Lindsborg.
While living in Great Bend, he started his family with the birth of his first son, Skyler Jon Christians. His second son, Shannon Kent Christians, would follow three years later. He raised his children and made countless friends in Great Bend, until moving to Lindsborg in 2000. It was there he married his wife and unwavering confidant, Sabrina. They enjoyed countless nights on the porch with friends and family, traveling whenever possible, and spending quality time as “Poppa and Benny,” to their granddaughter, Avery.
As a father, he shared with his sons an attitude and thirst for life which will never be forgotten. As a man and friend, his genuine character, easy-going attitude, and boundless compassion will be thought of each time we remember his smile.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann.
Alan left behind many loved ones, including his wife, Sabrina Christians; his sons, Skyler Christians and his wife, Amanda; and Shannon Christians; his father, John Christians; a sister, Vivian Sexton and husband, Bob; a brother, Brad Christians and his wife, Cathy; a granddaughter, Avery Christians; a stepson, Patrick Spellman; a stepdaughter, Mariah Spellman; and many other close family and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A Funeral Service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, with burial following at Smoky Hill Cemetery, Lindsborg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Alan Kent Christians Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, PO Box 386, Lindsborg, KS, 67456.
