ELDORADO — Aletha P. Rice, age 92.
Aletha’s life began on Aug. 13, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas the daughter of Forest E. and Liwanna A. (Wise) Boulware. She was a graduate of Waldo High School, class of 1948. Aletha was united in marriage to Harold Rice on Nov. 5, 1950 in Waldo, Ark. She worked hard for her family working for the Great Bend Police Department, as a substitute receptionist for Hallburton, she sold Stanley Home Products and owned and operated her own daycare for 15 years. Most importantly, she kept her home and was proud to be a homemaker.
Aletha had a firm foundation in her faith and loved the Lord. She enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church in El Dorado and loved gospel singing. She was a fantastic cook and loved to help family and friends. She loved to entertain and enjoyed traveling in the U.S.
Her loving family includes her children Kenneth (Debbie) Rice of Menifee, Calif., Teresa (Danny) LaCoss of Mulvane, Kan., Kevin (Kathie) Rice of El Dorado, and Keith Rice of Tokushima, Japan; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister Peggy (Max) Sweetin of Pittsburg, Okla.; sister in law Sue Boulware.
Aletha passed away on Aug. 1, 2023 in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; sister in law Wilda (Lloyd) Rice; brother, Tommy Boulware and brother, Forest E. Boulware II.
Friends may gather with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. Aletha will be laid to rest at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
