RUSH CENTER — Alice Rose Oborny, 76, died Feb. 10, 2014 at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse.
Born Sept. 19, 1937, in Olmitz, she was the daughter of George and Augusta (Springer) Nordman. In 1958, she graduated from Otis Rural High School in Otis. On Jan. 6, 1959, she married Leonard C. Oborny at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 2012. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a custodian in the public school system.
Mrs. Oborny was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken.
Survivors include, three sons, Eugene Oborny, and his companion, Cindy Martin, La Crosse; David Oborny, and his wife, Kassey Oborny, Rush Center; and Paul Oborny, and his wife, Wanda Oborny, Hays; a daughter, Leona Benedict, and her husband, Larry Benedict, Ness City; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Nordman, Great Bend; and three sisters, Melba Stos, Great Bend; Norma Knight, and her husband, Harland Knight, Wichita; and Margie Purdy, Rush Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Joshua Black; and five infant siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken, with Father Matthew Kumi officiating. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Timken. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, , with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
