MACKSVILLE — Barbara Louise (Lyda) Deighton, age 84, passed away on Sept. 6, 2023 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned, Kan. She was the daughter of Harry and Grace (Perkins) Lyda and step-daughter of Donald Nonken. She was born on Nov. 29, 1938 at Alexander, Kan. On Nov. 29, 1957 she married Leslie A. Deighton, Jr. at Alva, Okla., he passed away in 2021.  

She attended Southwestern College, Winfield, Kan. Barbara was a retired Cashier, working 33 years for the Farmers and Merchants State Bank and the American State Bank, Macksville, Kan. Her memberships include, Macksville Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Fort Larned Good Sam’s Camping Club and Macksville Senior Center.  

Survivors include two sons, David (Tracy) Deighton, St. John, Kan., Dale (Sara) Deighton, Hill City, Kan.; two daughters, Debbie (Tracy) Bright, Macksville, Kan., Dayna (Mark) Smith, Great Bend, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Jarrel; and a grandson, Ryan Christopher Deighton. 

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023 at Minnis Chapel, Macksville, Kan., with family present from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 at the Macksville Christian Church with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. Memorials may be given to the Macksville Christian Church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
