LARNED — Berniece M. Hanson, 89, died Feb. 15, 2012, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
She was born March 28, 1922, at West Salem, Wis., the daughter of Alfred and Clara Labus Nuttelman. A lifetime area resident, she was a farmwife and homemaker.
She graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Kansas State University for two years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Ladies and Liberty EHU, all of Great Bend. She was a Charter member of the Gem Unit, was a Pawnee County 4-H Leader for the Gem Dandy’s 4-H Club, a member of the Pawnee County 4-H foundation and the Fort Larned Historical Society.
On Oct. 1, 1950, she married Amil A. Hanson at Great Bend. He died Sept. 25, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Lynn Hanson and wife Tama, Pawnee Rock; a daughter, Mary Jane Lauer and husband Rod, Canton; and three grandchildren, Kylie Hanson, Hays; Brooks Hanson, Pawnee Rock; and Casey Lauer, Studio City, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nuttelman and a sister, Laverna Connor.
A Funeral Service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with Rev. James Strasen presiding. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday with family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation or the Trinity Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund, both in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477, Larned, KS. 67550.
