Betty J. Lawson, 86, died Jan. 8 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. She was born Oct. 18, 1927, at Earlsboro, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Bernice (Barker) Malone. She married Jimmy Edward Lawson Sept. 29, 1955, at Seminole, Okla. He died Oct. 2, 2005. A Great Bend resident since 1956, coming from Seminole, Okla., she was a homemaker. She also resided in El Dorado.
Mrs. Lawson was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed bingo and slot machines.
Survivors include two sons, Bud J. Lawson of Santa Cruz , Calif.,  and Hal J. Lawson and his wife Cheryl of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a daughter, Janet Kuhn and her husband Brad of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Ben Lawson of Santa Carlos, Calif., Nikki Lawson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Caley Rinker and husband Alex of San Diego, Calif., Jaci Lawson of Casa Grande, Ariz., Chris Kuhn and wife DeAnn of Great Bend, and Brendan Kuhn of Wichita; and two great-grandchildren, Hailee Kuhn and Cayden Kuhn. She was preceded in death by brother, Franklin Malone.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday at Bryant Funeral Home Memorial donations are suggested to BECAUSEYOUCAN MS Society, in care of  the funeral home.
