SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Bill Slous, 80, died Jan. 24 at Springfield, Mo. Born May 15, 1930 in Greenup County, Ky., he was the son of John and Mary (Smith) Slous. A resident of Springfiled, Mo., coming form Hoisington, he worked in the Kansas oilfields and for 25 years at Marlette Mobile Homes in Great Bend. On Oct. 1, 1952, he married Rita Hochanadel in Hoisington. She survives.
Mr. Slous served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Slous, of the home; five sons, Douglas Slous and Michael Slous of Springfield, Mo., Robert Slous and wife Tracey of Branson, Mo. Scott Slous and wife Karen of Wichita and Dan Slous and wife Heather of Salida, Colo.; two daughters, Susan Slous of Springfield, Mo., and Nita Brack of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Karen Risner and Christine rose; two brothers, John Slous and Lewis Slous; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sally; and infant brother; and a son, Mark.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery with military graveside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7248 and American Legion Post No. 286. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday with a vigil/rosary at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
