Carol Aylene Langen

Carol Aylene Langen, age 90, died at her home in Weatherford, TX on September 27, 2023. Carol was born in 1932 in Los Angeles, CA. At age 5, she moved to Great Bend, KS, and was raised by her mother, Anna (Fisher) Cook, and her adoptive father, Elmer C. Cook. She married Paul Langen in 1962.

Carol spent most of her adult life involved with music and education. She taught public school for over 40 years in Osborne, KS, Salt Lake City, UT, and Great Bend, KS. She also volunteered teaching duties at St. Patrick’s Academy and Grace Academy in Great Bend, KS. She was actively involved in church service. Among her duties were Sunday school teacher, coordinator of girls programs, choir director, drama director, and senior ministries pastor. She served in various churches in Kansas, Arizona, and Texas.

She was preceded by her husband, Paul Langen; and her grandchildren, Jeremiah Langen and Taylor Langen. She is survived by her four sons, Nathan Langen of Nowata, OK, Gregory Langen of Weatherford, TX, Joel Langen of Colby, KS, Jason Langen and wife Amy of Salina, KS; her adopted daughter, Marlene Martin and husband Eddie of Great Bend, KS; grandchildren, Chad Langen and husband Clayton Jewett, Amaya Langen, Aidan Barnes, Jacob Langen, and Conley Barnes-Langen, and Erin Martin and significant other Jonathan Griffin; one great grandchild, Braxton Hernandez; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Encounter Church in

Great Bend, KS. A private family burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorials be made to the senior ministries of Encounter Church, Great Bend, KS, or Fellowship Church, Weatherford, TX, or First Assembly of God, Azle, TX.
