LARNED — Charles M. Wonsetler, 85, died Aug. 6, 2015, at his residence in Larned. He was born March 8, 1930, in Larned, the son of Charles H. “Sam” and Clara VanDanacker Wonsetler. On May 26, 1954, he married Josephine “Jo” Mooney at Larned. She died Oct. 8, 2004. A lifetime area resident, he was a production manager for Doerr Metal.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and president of the Welcome Inn Senior Center.
Survivors include one son, Marty Wonsetler, Great Bend; one daughter, Noreen Applegate, Lawrence; and one sister, Mary Ann Spence, Lewis. He was preceded in death by one brother, Remigius “Bud” Wonsetler, and one sister, Charlene Williams.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Graveside service with military rites will follow at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Welcome Inn senior Center or the Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the mortuary.
