HOISINGTON — Clara B. Bittner, 77, died Oct. 2, 2011 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington.
She was born Feb. 2, 1934 at Wood, S.D., the daughter of Gotlieb and Alice (Rhodes) Kline. She married Ernest C. Bittner, Jr. April 4, 1953 at Raton, N.M. He died May 11, 2009.
She worked for Dr. Robert Moore and Dr. Robert Warrick in Hoisington as an assistant. She was currently working for Alterna Care, also in Hoisington.
Mrs. Bittner was a Hoisington resident since 1961 coming from Scott City. She attended First Assembly of God Church, Great Bend. She enjoyed reading, yard work, watching KU sports, BCCC basketball, Hoisington sports and spending time with grandchildren and attending their activities.
Survivors include a son, Ernest F. Bittner and wife Kimberly, Overland Park; two daughters: Debra Chubb and husband Scott, Hoisington; Theresa Smith and husband Todd, Great Bend; two sisters, Emma Hamit, Wynona, Minn., and Freda Weichman, Fort Worth, Texas; a brother: Dennis Kline, Fort Worth; Texas; and grandchildren: Jacob and Jadon Bittner, Austin, Tallan and Aryiah Smith, Brandi (Chubb) Apley and husband Aaron, and Hope Chubb; and a great grandchild, Slayde Apley
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, Walt, Al, Fred, Dicky Dean, and David Eugene Kline and two sisters, Mae Cordrey and Georgia Russell.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at First Assembly of God Church, Great Bend, with Officiant Pastor Dwight Dozier. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Interment will be at the Hoisington Cemetery.
