ELLINWOOD — Cora Louisa Pennington, 98, passed away peacefully on Feb. 27th. Born May 24, 1914 in Bunker Hill,  she was the daughter of Arthur Sellens and Mary (Chenoweth) Sellens, one of five children. In 1932 she graduated from Haviland Friends Academy. She was honored as one of three remaining graduates surviving from her class at the 2011 reunion. A resident of Ellinwood for over 50 years, she was a self-employed beautician.
Cora was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Cora is survived by her children, Lynette Barragan, Nyla Martens, and Robert Pennington; grandchildren, Penny Jones, Tracy Barragan, Geoff Martens, Sydney West, Rusty Pennington, and Crystal Mittell; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Merl Sellens, Edith Pound, Flora McKinney, and Dora Doering; and grandson, Bradley Barragan.
A memorial service to celebrate Cora’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street in Wichita. An additional memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Heritage Senior Center, 103 N Main, in Ellinwood.  Memorial contributions may be made to Kans For Kids Fighting Cancer, P.O. Box 178, Hoisington KS 67544.
