Curtis S. Werner Sr. 1959 - 2015

LYONS — Curtis S. Werner Sr., 56, died Jan. 2, 2016, at his residence in Lyons. Born Dec. 10, 1959, in Ellinwood, he was the son of Wayne Joseph and Julia A. Bever Werner. A lifetime resident of Rice County, having lived in Lyons, Chase, Raymond and Great Bend, he attended the Chase/Raymond School System. He worked at the Rice County Highway Department in road maintenance. On Feb. 12, 1977, he married Janie Martinez in Chase.
Mr. Werner was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Lyons.
Survivors include his wife Janie of the home; three sons, C.J. Werner, Lucas Werner, Victor Werner, all of Lyons; a brother, Kevin Werner of Great Bend; four sisters, Kathy Nielsen of Montgomery, Ala., Karen Carlson of McPherson, Crystal Suppes of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Clydene Jacobs of Great Bend; and three grandchildren, Belladonna Werner, Jada Werner, and Xavier Werner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Lyons with Father Robert Spencer officiating. Burial will be at the Raymond Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 7 p.m., today at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons. Parish Rosary  will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Catholic Church or Raymond Community Foundation in care of the funeral home.
