Cynthia “Cindy” Jo Lyon passed away peacefully July 2, 2022. She is preceded in death by parents George S. and Loretta J. Ming of Great Bend, Kan.; sisters Cheryl E. Cogdill (Steve) and Susan K. Parks; and three infant children, Brandon, Bradley, and Lindsay Jo.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Jerry D. Ming of Great Bend, Kan.; sisters, Brenda L. Krier (Allan) of Stroud, Okla., Mary Jane Leshore of Great Bend, Kan.; her sons, Brian C. Adams (Kelly) of Woodstock, Ga., Justin M. Adams of Cartersville, Ga.; step-daughter, Kristin M. Dory (Brad) of Anthony, Kan.; six nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren.
Cindy enjoyed many activities at various stages of her life. She liked swimming, weekend camping excursions, playing softball and tennis, fishing, trap shooting and riding bikes. She would travel throughout the mid-west, taking her two sons, Brian and Justin, to hockey games and tournaments in which they participated. Through much of her life she enjoyed gardening, outdoor and indoor plants and just yard work in general. In her later years, she enjoyed walks around the lake and just sitting on the deck in her back yard watching wildlife. She was a dedicated animal lover, contributing to charities and helping animals anyway she could. Most of her pets were rescue animals. Perhaps her favorites were her two cats, Ozzy and Boomer. She would sit in her recliner for hours with a cat on each side.
Cindy was an avid rock and roll music fan going to many concerts. Her all-time favorite group was Pink Floyd and favorite album was Dark Side of the Moon. She would quite often say “turn that up”.
She worked several jobs over the years, Fuller Brush, Boeing, Cessna, driving a school bus and was a CNA and CMA. The job she enjoyed most was being an activities director for assisted living.
She was a feisty, strong willed, spirited woman. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Downing and Lahey Mortuary, West Chapel. Cindy’s wishes were for everyone to be comfortable, so casual attire (t-shirts, blue jeans and sneakers) is acceptable. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kansas Humane Society in honor of Cindy Lyon, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219. Share tributes online at: www.dlwichita.com
