MCCRACKEN — Danny Jerome Petz, 64, died Feb. 7, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.
Mr. Petz was born April 30, 1949, in Great Bend, the son of Donald Jerome and Dolores Priscilla (Kowalsky) Petz.  
He was a lifelong resident of Rush County.  A 1967 graduate of McCracken High School, he graduated from the Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1969. He was the owner/operator of Petz Equipment and Petz Trucking.  He was a lifetime farmer and rancher.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, McCracken; Knights of Columbus Council No. 4166, Schoenchen; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Cunningham Assembly 0282, Hays; American Legion West-Burch Kansas Post 59, McCracken; and a lifetime member of VFW Post 9076, Hays.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.  He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
On Jan. 2, 1971, he married Patricia Ann Foos at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse.
Survivors include:  his wife, Patricia Petz, McCracken; a son, Kelly Petz, and his wife, Melanie, Hays; a daughter, Angie Timson, and her husband, Trent, McPherson; his mother, Dolores Petz, McCracken; three brothers, Darrell Petz, and his wife, Cynthia, Andover; Kirby Petz, and his wife, Joy, McCracken; Chris Petz, and his wife, Cindy, Goddard; a sister, Sherry Petz, Ellis, Kansas; and a sister in law, Madeline Petz, Buhler; and seven grandchildren, Nathan Windholz, Nicholas Petz, Kallynn Petz, Kameron Petz, Tyler Timson, Drake Timson, and Grant Timson; a great grandchild, Easton Windholz;
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Gene Petz, and Tim Petz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, McCracken.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Matthew Kumi officiating.  Interment will be in McCracken City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Danny Petz Rush County FFA Scholarship Fund.
