Darlene R. Hunt, 84, of Great Bend, passed away at her home in Great Bend on Saturday morning, June 27, 2015, after a brief illness. Born on March 5, 1931, at Alexander, she was the daughter of Walter H. and Minnie (Krug) Boese. In 1947, she graduated from Alexander High School and worked for the former Parsons-Williams Funeral Home (now Prairie Rose Funeral Home) in Anthony for 15 years. She later worked both as a Chiropractic Assistant for Dr. Whealy Chiropractic and as a cook for Park Hill Lanes for 20 years in Anthony. On Jan. 26, 2005, she was united in marriage to James H. Hunt at Whiteville, Tenn. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darlene was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Prince Of Peace Parish in Great Bend.              
Survivors include her husband, James H. Hunt of Great Bend; three sons, Tommy and his wife Shirley Tomlinson, of Inman, Jake and his wife Kathy Tomlinson, of La Crosse, and Michael Riedel of Great Bend; three daughters, Marcketta Gates and her husband Larry, of Erie, Beverly Seachris of Anthony, and Cindy Ash and her husband Bob, of Anthony; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Boese and his wife Nila, of Alexander and Galen Boese and his wife Mary Ann, of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sisters, Lenora Stelter of Plainville and Charline Lax of Whiteville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Doug Seachris, one great-granddaughter, Abigail Seachris; two brothers; and one sister.
According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen. There will be no viewing or services at this time. A Graveside Memorial Service and inurnment will be held at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood at a later date. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to St. Rose Health Center Endowment Fund for Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice of Great Bend.
