KINGMAN — David L. Govert, 54, died September 14, 2011 at his rural home, Cunningham.
He was born Sept. 10, 1957 in Kingman, the son of Julius and Nancy Dumont Govert. David was a lifetime resident of the Cunningham and Kingman communities.
David was a lifetime farmer and stockman as well as the founder of MachineryLink. He was a member of Class IX of KARL (Kansas Agriculture Rural Leadership). He served on numerous county boards, most recently, as president of the Kingman County Fair Board. Of all his many accomplishments, he took the most pride in his children, whom he loved dearly, as well as his extended family and many friends.
David was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman; the Knights of Columbus 2662, Saint George Council, Willowdale.
He married Sheila Schneider in Olmitz, Kan. on April 16, 1988. Other survivors include daughters Katie May and husband Kelvin; Anna and Amelia; sons, Joseph and Jack; sisters, Julie Govert-Walter; and Alice Bryan; and a brother, Alan Govert.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy; a stepmother Isabelle; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Rose Schneider.
A parish rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman. Funeral servcies are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, also at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman.
Memorials may be made with St. Patrick Catholic School; Kingman County Carnival; and Kansas Agriculture Rural Leadership, in care of the funeral home.
