GREAT BEND — Dean Edwin Wiziarde, 86, died Feb. 5, 2012 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend.
Born Dec. 9, 1925 in Kansas City, he was the son of Clarence August and Fleeta Grace (Faulconer) Wiziarde. On Jan. 5, 1947, he married Betty Jean Popp in Larned. A resident of Little River and Great Bend most of his life, he was an oilfield pumper for ARCO Oil Company.
Mr. Wiziarde was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, Grace Lutheran Church in Lyons, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Little River.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Wiziarde, of the home; four sons, Kenneth Dean Wiziarde and his wife Laurie, McPherson; Daniel K. Wiziarde and his wife D’Ann of Independence; James J. Wiziarde, McPherson; and Pastor Jon M. Wiziarde and his wife Sue, Zion, Ill.; a daughter, Ginger Christeson and her husband James, Plano, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. James A. Strasen officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time on Wednesday, both at Bryant Funeral Home.
