Don A. DuBois was born March 21, 1930 in Great Bend, Kan. to Clinton and Thelma (Krause) DuBois. He passed away at the age of 90 on Nov. 1, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County.
Don grew up in Great Bend and graduated from high school in 1949. He married Mayme Ruth Lofland on Dec. 30, 1950 in Great Bend, Kan. Don worked for DuBois Sand Company in Great Bend and DuBois and Sons Sand Company in Satanta, Kan. and then Ace Hardware in Great Bend. Later in life, he did wrought iron construction. Don was very proud of his years of service as an ambulance driver while he was living in SW Kansas. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men, a troop leader for the Boy Scouts, and served as the Mayor of Satanta for a short time.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Thelma DuBois; brother, Gene DuBois; sister, Linda Stringer; sons, Dan and David DuBois and great-granddaughter, Danielle DuBois. He is survived by his wife Mayme, of Oberlin; daughter, Diana Sue Fillpot of Salem, Va.; daughter-in-law, Tami DuBois of Almena, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Betty DuBois and Darlene Unruh; brother-in-law, James Lofland; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family has followed Don’s wish to be cremated. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, Kan. Condolences may be left at www.paulsfh.com.
