LARNED — Donald D. Peterson, 81, passed away Jan. 29, 2016, at Via Christi St. Francis Select Specialty in Wichita. Born May 22, 1934, in Larned, he was the son of Eldon A. and Hilda Tina Petersen Peterson. On Dec. 12, 1954, he married Nita Gaye Geil in Albert. She survives.
 A lifetime area resident, he owned Peterson Electric in Larned.
Mr. Peterson served in the United States Army. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the V.F.W., Kiwanis Club, Peterson Electric Bowling Team and a city council member, all of Larned.  
Other survivors include, two sons, Duayne (Tina) Peterson, of Greensboro, N.C. and Bryan (Sarah) Peterson, of Highland Ranch, Colo.; a brother, Darryl (Susan) Peterson, of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lynn Peterson; a sister, Yvonne Wittig; and a grandson, Brandon Taylor Peterson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Great Bend Cemetery with Darryl Peterson presiding. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.
