Donald Kazmaier

LARNED — Donald Kazmaier, 75, passed away Dec. 11, 2023 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.

He was born March 2, 1948 in Spearville, Kan., the son of Cecil W. and Donna L Covert Kazmaier. A lifetime area resident, He was a printer for Office Products Incorporated.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden Belt Wood Carvers, and Kansas Ornithological Society. He was an Oblate at the Benedictine Monastery in Conception, Mo. and enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching, carving, gardening and hunting.

He married Louise Boyer, they later divorced. On July 2, 1992 he married Kathleen T. Rourke, she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Cary (Cheri) Kazmaier, California, Jay Kazmaier, California, and John (Noel) Schreiber, Salina; brother, Michael (Judy) Kazmaier, St. Peter’s, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Leigha, Lydia, and Adrianna Kazmaier, Camdyn, Colin and Jaren Schreiber, and Breonah and Kristionah Lippard; two great grandchildren Evelynn and Elias Woodring; and aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Merridy Kazmaier; and brother David Kazmaier.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, Kan., with Father Anselm Eke presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023 with a rosary and a vigil at 6:30 p.m. Graveside service will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, McCracken, Kan. with military honors provided by American Legion Post #59 and United States Army. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Benedictine Monastery, Conception, Mo. in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477, Larned, Kansas 67550.
