Donna Mae Bryant, 89, of Ellinwood, KS, passed away December 9, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society of Lyons. She was born August 29, 1931 at home south of Great Bend, the daughter of Roy and Betty Hess Calhoun and stepdaughter of Raphel Morrison.
Donna was a lifetime Ellinwood resident. She graduated from Great Bend High School with the class of 1949. Donna was a farm wife, and also worked in the kitchen at the Great Bend Sale Barn. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, member of Ellinwood Sunshine Club, Great Bend Polka Club, and the Ellinwood Bowling League, where she was a member for over 40 years. Donna enjoyed crafts, playing cards, gardening, and cooking for her family.
On May 6, 1950, Donna was united in marriage to Clarence E. Bryant in Great Bend.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bryant; parents, Roy and Betty Calhoun; stepfather, Raphel Morrison; brother, J.R. Calhoun; and two grandsons, Cody Bryant and Dominick Bryant. Donna is survived by her sons, Bruce Bryant (Michele) of Raymond, and Lyle Bryant (Lynnae) of Ellinwood; grandchildren, Kristine Emmons (Jeremy), their children, Bryson and Layne, Kathy Bryant, Laci Head (Jeramy), their children, Braydn and Rowan; Traci Brackbill and her son, Kaiden; Erik Warnken (Liz), their children, Terrance and Neil; and lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood. The service will be live-streamed on Birzer Funeral Home’s FaceBook page. A Celebration of Life Service and burial will be held June of 2021. Memorials may be given to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, Ellinwood Senior Center, Ellinwood Historical Society, or a charity of your choice to honor Donna in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
