HOISINGTON — Doris Lucille Boxberger, 90, died July 14, 2018, at Almost Home, Great Bend. She was born Nov. 15, 1927, on the farm near Galatia, Kan., the daughter of Jacob and Gertrude (Schwein) DeWald. Doris was a 1945 graduate of Russell High School.
On Oct. 24, 1948, she married Herbert “Herb” Boxberger at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington where she was currently still a member.
Doris made her home in Hoisington for 73 years with Herb. They had two children, Deborah and Doug. Herb preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2001 and later her daughter, Deborah in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Gertrude DeWald; a brother, Vernon DeWald; and her angel great-grandson, Maxton Foster Burkey.
Survivors include, son, Douglas Boxberger and wife Della of Hoisington; five grandchildren, Keith Reif and wife London of Hoisington, and their children, Bradley, Brooke, Brady, and Brennley; Terry Reif and wife Anita of Hoisington and their children, Mallory and Gabrielle; Kelci Burkey and husband Kevin of Hoisington and their children, Kamben, Boston and Ruxon; Bryan Boxberger and wife Ashley of Stafford and their son Lane; and Bryce Boxberger and wife Abigayle of Hoisington; and a brother, James DeWald and wife Georgetta of rural Galatia.
Friends may call 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Prayer service will start at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Wayne Baldyga presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
