Doris M. Clutter 1918 - 2011

LARNED — Doris M. Clutter, 93, died Oct. 14, 2011, at Midland Hospice in Topeka. Born Feb. 6 1918, at Radium, she was the daughter of Lotus and Ethyl Cromer Zink. She was a longtime Larned resident. During World War II she worked at Boeing for two and a half years and saw the first B-29 come off the line and fly. In subsequent years she worked as bookkeeper at Clutter Electric and then moved to Credit Manager for the Pawnee County Co-op. On Dec. 24, 1939 she married Arthur E. Clutter in Larned. He died Nov. 1, 1997.

Mrs. Clutter was a member of the First Methodist Church; United Methodist Woman; Li-Ar-Mu; Order of The Eastern Star, White Cross Chapter; and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Larned.

Survivors include a son, Michael, of Topeka; a daughter, Janis Scrogan, of Boulder, Colo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Zink, Clarence Zink and Lloyd Zink; and a sister Shirley Edwards.

Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Larned Cemetery with Pastor Bill Fitzgerrel presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, at the Beckwith Mortuary. Friends are invited to greet family members Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Glory Be in Larned. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist church, Larned, in care of the funeral home.
