Edward H. Isern 1942 - 2012

ELLINWOOD — Edward H. Isern, 70, died Oct. 31 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Sept. 28, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Edward H. and Marian Moses Isern. He was a 1960 graduate of Ellinwood High School, attended the University of Kansas, was a graduate of Western New Mexico and studied at the University of Colorado. On April 20, 1991, he married Marianne Newcombe at Colorado Springs, Colo. A longtime resident of Ellinwood, formerly of Boulder, Colo., he was a retired Realtor.
Mr. Isern was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Grove Park Golf Club, both of Ellinwood; Rock Port Country Club of Rock Port, Texas, and Dos Rios of Gunnison, Colo.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Edward (Jeannie) Isern of Spokane, Wash., and Mark (Christine) Knop of Ellinwood; three daughters, Kara (Brady) Mills of Rock Port, Texas, Kristine (Steve) Whistone of Napa, Calif., and Kathy (Cary) Steiner of McPherson; a sister, Ann Deen of Dillon, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood with Pastor Jeff Frakes officiating. Burial will be at the Lakin-Commanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may visit from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter and Paul Steeple Restoration Fund.
