Elaine H. Taylor, 85, died Aug. 30 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born June 20, 1928, at Stafford County, the daughter of Arthur Jacob and Goldie (Gates) Hooper. She was a Great Bend resident most of her life, graduating from Great Bend High School in 1947.
Elaine married John Taylor March 24. 1957, at The Church in the Wildwood in Green Mountain Falls, Colo. They were married for 54 years. She worked for Strata Drilling Co. as a secretary, and Taylor Toys and Gallery of Brides as a partner.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a sister, Carolyn Roberts of Oklahoma City, Okla., a stepdaughter, Peggy Taylor-Billings of Lawrence; a niece, Cheryl Pascoe of Denver, Colo., and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Pascoe.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. Phyllis Flory officiating. Inurnment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Memorial fund donations to the Barton County Historical Society may be made in care of the funeral home.
