LENEXA — Elmer Rae Beck, 78 of Lenexa, Kan. better known to all as “Al” passed into God’s Kingdom and became our ultimate Guardian Angel on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1943 in Great Bend, Kan. to Frank and Marie Beck.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Marie Beck, sister Bernie Christopher, sister Helen Urban, and twin sister Elma Stricker.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, L. Diane Beck, his daughter Kayleen Beck, his son Kevin Beck (wife Dawn), his granddaughter Jordyn Kirkle (husband Tyler), his grandson Austin Beck, and his granddaughter Mackenzi Beck. He is also survived by his brother Gene Beck, his sister Kathy Thompson and his sister Betty Steiner (husband Kenny), several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Al always gave his all in everything he did and to everyone he loved and called friend. He was a son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, husband, father and grandfather. He especially loved his roles as husband, father, and grandfather to his three grandchildren.
He cherished his time with family and friends. He was a jack of all trades, loved watching his sports teams (KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and KSU), and he especially enjoyed special moments with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Al had an outgoing personality. He was known for racing his older brother at the dinner bell to be first in line, “especially for fried chicken” and would be known to pull pranks on family and friends whenever he could. He and his wife supported his children and grandchildren at games, events and special occasions. He taught important life lessons by leading by example and would drop everything to help family and friends in need. He was also known as “Dad” to his children’s friends.
Although Al is no longer with us here on Earth, the many special moments and memories he created with each family member and numerous friends are endless and priceless. He is forever in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Al requested a Private Family Celebration which will be held at a special location at a later date.
