NESS CITY — Elvira M. Kerr, 88, died on Monday, Jan. 31, at Ness County Hospital in Ness City. Born on May 10, 1922, on a farm Southwest of Bazine, she was the daughter of John Gotleib and Bertha Krug Schneider. She attended a country school, graduated from Bazine High School, and then attended Venus Beauty School where she earned her beautician license. She was a lifetime resident of Ness County. On March 24, 1944, she married Wayne E. Kerr at the St. Ignatius Church in Nonchalanta. He died on June 19, 1995.

Mrs. Kerr was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and ESA, all of Ness City.

Survivors include her son, Mark Kerr of Ness City; a daughter, Gloria Keenan of Ness City; two sisters, Glenda Koch of Great Bend and Jenetta Filbert of Bazine; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a grandson, Andrew Keenan.

Parish Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Sacred Heart Church with Father Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Church or the Ness City Public Library.
