ST. JOHN — Esther Rose Staub, age 78, passed away on April 27, 2019, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford, Kan. She was born on July 29, 1940, at Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Alexander C. and Anna M. (Wolf) Stoecklein. She worked for many years at the nursing home in St. John and was a member of the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren. She was married to Max Schartz and later to Larry Dean Staub.  

Survivors include, two sons, Richard Schartz and Robert Montgomery; two daughters, Brenda Aitken and Linda Murrow; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She loved playing bingo and embroidering pillow cases for friends and family.  

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. There will be a private inurnment ceremony. Memorials may be given to Leisure Homestead, Stafford, Kan., in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
