LA CROSSE — Felicita M. “Fritzie” Weichen, 102, died Jan. 18, 2016, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born Aug. 23, 1913, in Fairview Township, Rush County, she was the daughter of Alex and Mary (Werth) Munsch. On Dec. 25, 1935, she married Norval “Nib” Weichen at Bison. He preceded her in death May 25, 1960. A resident of Rush County for 84 years, moving from Schoenchen, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Weichen was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and St. Ann’s Altar Society, both of Timken, and Joy Club in Bison. She was a member of the Rush County Senior Companions for 36 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Stejskal (Larry), of Timken and Virginia Lee Schneider (Marvin), of Rush Center; seven grandchildren, Rick Stejskal (Nette), of Wilmington, Del., Roxane Orr (Kevin), of Chanute, Ginger Dodin (Bill), of Junction City, Brian Stejskal (Kim), of Bison, Karen Mitchell (Mike), of Ellinwood, Charles Keener (MaryAnn), of Great Bend, and Fred Keener (Julie), of Hill City; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher Stejskal, Amanda Stejskal, Elizabeth Wasson (Chad), Joe Vondracek (Shane), Cynthia Wimberley (Kevin), James Dodin (Gelia), Nicole Stejskal, Zachary Stejskal, Devin Keener and Ellie Keener; four step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Freund (Kelly), Michael Freund (Emily), Alex Freund and Jessica Freund; eight great-great-grandchildren, Addelyn Wasson, Avah Wasson, Ella Vondracek, Landon Vondracek, Braiden Vondracek, Oakley Wimberley, Gunner Wimberley, and William Dodin; one step-great-great-grandchild, Julia Freund; and one sister, Theresa Basgall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Norbert Joseph Weichen, and Norval “Jerry” Weichen; one grandson, Michael Keener; three brothers, Albinus Munsch, Severin Munsch, and Jerome Munsch; three half brothers, George Munsch, Edmund Munsch and Agedius “Whitey” Munsch; one stepbrother, Theodore Wolf; one sister, Albina Beer; six half sisters, Martina Legleiter, Agnes McMichael, Eleanor Basgall, Lorraine Herrman, Estella Brening and Hilda M. Munsch; and two stepsisters, Teckla Gabel, and Coletta Pfannenstiel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken, with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the La Crosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 9:30-10:20 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Senior Companion Program or Masses.
