Frances J. Staab 1928 - 2013

Frances J. Staab, 84, died July 6, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on Aug. 28, 1928 in Russell, she was the daughter of George J. and Olive Grace (Francis) Ehrlich. She grew up in Russell, where she graduated from Russell High School. On Nov. 5, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edwin A. Staab in Russell. Over the years Frances worked as a dispatcher for the Great Bend Police Department, a desk clerk at the Best Western Angus Inn, and central supply at Central Kansas Medical Center, all in Great Bend, and as a greeter at Walmart in Dodge City.  
Mrs. Staab was a Cub Scout Pack Leader, President of the PTA, and also coached Little League Baseball while her children were playing. She, along with her husband, was active in the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Eagles Club.  Frances was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend, where she was a longtime member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include three sons, Garry J. Staab of Grandbury, Texas, Larry E. Staab and Jerry L. Staab, both of Great Bend; one daughter, Shelley A. Lewis and husband, Michael, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; four grandchildren, Ricky J. Staab and Aaron, Ryan, and Staci Lewis; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judith V. Mullen of Thornton, Colo. and Doris D. Keller of Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin A. Staab on Jan. 23, 1993; one brother, Richard D. Ehrlich; and one sister in infancy.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Great Bend City Cemetery Mausoleum in Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Entombment will follow in the Great Bend City Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, with a Rosary Service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
