LARNED — Gary Lee Shelton, 61, died Sept. 26 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born March 26, 1950, in Larned, to Donald and Ida Marie McNemee Shelton. A lifetime resident of Larned, he was a retired service technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, and was a member of the National Rifle Association, and Model Association of Central Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

On May 8, 1971, he married Mary F. Gasser at Larned. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, Ida Marie, Larned; two sons, Chris and wife Holly, Amarillo, Texas and Ryan and wife Angela, Ponca City, Okla.; one daughter, Lori McSorley and husband Matthew, Lawrence; three brothers, Ronald W., Richard A. and Ken, all of Larned; one sister, Donna Kay Martin, Larned; and four grandchildren, Andrew Shelton, Ezra Shelton, Christian McSorley and Rylan McSorley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Shelton.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery.
