Gayle Sharon (Royset) Unruh, 80, passed away May 30, 2022, at Azria Health in Great Bend. She was born on May 20, 1942, to Sigurd and Borghild (Fugleston) Royset in Hettinger, N.D. After graduating high school she worked at the local bank and soon met her first husband, Rueben. They moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where they ran a successful transmission business together. After he passed, she met Loren Unruh and they were married on Jan. 2, 1988 in Great Bend. She quickly joined Loren in helping with the Black Angus and Best Western Angus Inn with her unique interior decorating style. Gayle loved shopping, traveling, reading and time spent with family and friends, especially the grandkids.
She is survived by husband, Loren Unruh of Great Bend; two step-daughters, Shawnda (Stan) Misina of Wilton, N.H. and Krista (Rich) Osborne of Riverdale, N.J.; grandchildren, Dake (Kristi) Unruh of Benton, Kan., Priscilla (Travis) Wilson of Wilton, N.H., Benjamin Garcia of Alpine, Texas, Darian (Taylor) Unruh of Park City, Kan., Haley (Hunter) Gullion of Springfield, Mo., Rich (Yoseline) Osborne of Alexandria, Va. and Ryan Osborne of Riverdale, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Londyn, Tate and Landon Unruh, Liam and Savannah Wilson, Emma and Brayden Gullion; brother Gary Royset of Poulsbo, Wash., sister Karen (Jon) Jennings of Gilbert, Ariz.; nephews Dan (Lisa) Anderson, Tim (Barbara) Mattis and Ted Jennings; nieces, Pam (Pat) Mattix, DeAnne (Dan) Berwald, Karmin (Ted) Billadeau, Deb (Rick) Royset-Jones, Dona Warwick and Sandi (Tim) Butts; great nieces Megan and Paige Billadeau.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sigurd and Borghild Royset, sisters Delores Mattis and Ilene Anderson, first husband Rueben Kirchenman, stepson Rick Unruh, and grandson Landon Tate Unruh.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, with family present from 5-7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Interment will be in Dundee Valley Cemetery.
