BOLIVIA, N.C. — George Richard “Dick” Erdtmann, age 81, of Bolivia, N.C. passed away on Saturday the second of June 2018 at his home.
Born in Ellsworth, Kan. on the twenty first of August 1936, Dick was the son of the late George Edward and Almira Hardenburger Erdtmann.
Dick was a retired Aerospace Engineer, and worked on several projects including the Hexagon and Hubble Satellite projects. One of his hobbies was woodworking, which he was quite accomplished at using various exotic woods to make cutting boards and enjoyed selling at craft fairs in the area. Dick was also an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with his family and friends. Dick was a proud Eagle Scout and that accomplishment was made even more special last Saturday when his grandson, Nathan, earned and received his Eagle Scout Rank.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Jane Erdtmann; three sons, David Erdtmann and wife Eunhee Lee of Mendanales, N.M., John Erdtmann and wife Nora Koffman of Kingsport, Tenn., Eric Erdtmann and wife Melissa of Roxbury, Conn.; a sister, Miriam Strasen and husband, James of Salina, Kan. and two grandchildren, Nathan and Jayme Erdtmann.
A celebration of life will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday the twenty third of June 2018 in the Holden Beach Chapel, 107 Rothchild Street, Holden Beach, N.C. A reception will follow the service at Winding River POC, 1640 Goley Hewett Road SE, Bolivia, N.C.
