STAFFORD — Gerald “John” Felke, 77, passed away April 30, 2017, at Stafford County Hospital. Born on June 25, 1939, at Great Bend, he was the son of Alvin J. and Minnie Debes Felke. He was a retired machinist for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft in California. On Mar. 13, 1991, he married Carol Sue Reneau at Bellflower, Calif. She survives. John and his wife were full-time RV’ers for 13 years then a resident of Stafford since 2015.
John was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion.
Other survivors include a step-son, Kevin Bieberle and fiancée Sonny, of Great Bend; three step-daughters, LyAnna McComb of Greensburg, LaTana McComb Beaumont and fiancé Mike, of Great Bend; and LoRita Heinson and husband Dewayne, of Greensburg; two brothers, Frank Felke and wife Joan, of Billings, Mont., and Donald Felke and wife Virginia, of Falcon, Colo.; a sister, Nadine Penka and husband Vernon, of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Justin, Danny, Samantha, Shanda, Sheridan, Talisha, Zak, Nick; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Maurice Felke; and granddaughter Tabitha.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Carl Feril presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Seward. Visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Post #170 at Westcliffe, Co., in care of the funeral home.
