Gerald Lee Niedens 1946 - 2012

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — Gerald Lee Niedens, 65, Harrisonville, Mo., died Oct. 5, 2012 at Willow Lane Nursing Home in Butler, Mo.
Born Nov. 29, 1946 in Hoisington, he was the son of Otto H. and Rosie (Boxberger) Niedens. He was a graduate of Hoisington High School and received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Pittsburg State University. On July 20, 1991 he married Cynthis Pugh.
Mr. Niedens was a U. S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He was a charter member of Lambda Chi Alpha.  
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, of the home; four sons, Jay and wife, Staci, Harrisonville, Mo.; Jeremy, Pekin, Ill.; Nick and wife, Argie, Athens, Greece; and Jeffrey and wife, Chrissie, Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Avis, Athens, Greece; a brother, Doyle Niedens and wife, Sandy, Macon, Ga.; and two grandsons, Pano and Skyler. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, Mo. Cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity or Smolenski MSA Research Fund (Multiple System Atrophy). Online condolences may be made to atkinsonfuneralhome.com.
