Gladys M. Bloodworth, 92, died Sept. 19 at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born June 18, 1919 in Carmi, Ill., she was the daughter of Daniel and Minnie A. (Argo) Hucker. On March 28, 1937, she married Orval R. Bloodworth in Carmi, Ill. He died on July 27, 1978. A resident of Great Bend since 1952, she was a seamstress at Marlett Homes, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Bloodworth was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, the Barton County Historical Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Cheyenne Bottoms Sportsman Club, all in Great Bend.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Jacquie Disque and husband Doug of Great Bend and Karla Maharjan and husband Suresh of Commerce City, Colo.; a sister, Lela Pierce of Carmi, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Malia Disque, Jessica Disque, and Charlie Maharjan; several nieces and nephews; and very special extended family. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Henderson and husband Howard; two brothers, Howard Hucker and Roy Hucker; and a sister, Wilma Ortiz.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
