AURORA, Ill. — Gloria Bell Saling, 100, passed away March 24, 2026, at The Whitley of Aurora in Aurora, Ill. She was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Morrison, Okla. to Joe and Stella (Bilyew) Schlehuber. Gloria married William ‘Bill’ Oliver Saling July 14, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla. He passed away July 30, 1988.
Gloria moved to the area in 1956 and made Great Bend her home until moving closer to family in 2019. She worked as a clerk for Gibsons, Cinderella Shoppe, Komarek Jewelers, and USD 428 Food Service. She served side by side with Bill as his right hand at Edmiston Oil Company. Gloria had a strong faith and was very active in her membership with First Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed cats and loved on them through her lifetime. Her greatest joy was the legacy she left behind in the time spent with her family.
Survivors include son, Cary Saling and his wife Marcia of Aurora, Ill.; sisters, Iris Mauer and Donna Jenkins, both of Lake Hills, Texas; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughters-in-law, Sandy Saling of Washington and Linda Saling of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 43 years, William ‘Bill’ Saling; sons, Allen K. Saling, Jon R. Saling; brother, Bryan Schlehuber; and grandson, Joshua Saling.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Olivet Cemetery, located half a mile North of Highway 281 and Highway 4 intersection, with Pastor Ken Gray presiding.
