HOLYROOD — Grace (Wilkens) Johnson, 77, passed away on July 25, 2015, at her home in Holyrood. Born Nov. 7, 1937, in Lorraine, she was the daughter of Clarence and Helen (Kruse) Wilkens. On Aug. 30, 1958, Grace married Richard E. Johnson. He preceded her in death. A resident of Holyrood since 2005, moving from the farm three miles east of town, she was a housewife. She worked part-time at Quivira Heights Jr. High School in the computer lab.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Women’s Ministry Fellowship, the First Baptist Church of Lorraine, American Legion Auxiliary of Holyrood, and Red Hat Holyrood Stars.
Survivors include a son, Dan (Sherry) of Lorraine; two daughters, Debbie Deem (Tom) of Thornton, Colo. and Patty Child of Valley Center; a brother, Garry Wilkens (Janice) of Holyrood; and seven grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Delbert Wilkens; and son-in-law, Andy Child.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bushton United Methodist Church. Private graveside services will be held at Lorraine Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., today at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. Memorials may be given to Bushton United Methodist Church or the First Baptist Church of Lorraine in care of the funeral home.
