Harold D. Adams 1924-2013

MT. HOPE — Harold D. Adams, 89, went to be with his Lord on March 15, 2013. He was born March 1, 1924 in St. John. He graduated from Anthrium High School in 1941.
He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 43rd recon unit, fighting in northern France, central Europe and Germany and was honorably discharged on Nov. 4, 1945. He looked forward to attending his Army reunions and attended many of them over the years. He retired from utility contractors where he worked with heavy equipment. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Federated Church and the VFW.
Survivors include wife, Jan Adams of Mt. Hope; son, David and Jody Adams of Maize; daughters Brenda and Jeff Mullins, Dorothy Keith, all of Maize, and Debbie and David Drymon of Springdale, Ark.; brother, James and Mary Adams of Great Bend; sisters Margaret Ikerd of Newton and Ruth Stone of Lakewood, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; extended family children, Jan and Jack Jackson of Omaha, Neb.; Kent and Jeanne Miles of Haven; and Michelle Miles of Springfield, Mo.; and four extended family grandchildren and nine extended family great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth and second wife Barbara; his parents, Ben and Louise Adams; brothers, Paul and Bernard; sisters, Lous Lampton-Lane and Esther Spangenberg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Federated Church at Mt. Hope with Pastor Daniel Ensz officiating. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Fairview Park Cemetery at St. John. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Hope EMS or Federated Church or Fairview Park Cemetery Board.
