Harvey H. “Mutt” Delaney

BURDETT — Harvey H. “Mutt” Delaney, 84, passed away Nov. 29, 2020 at Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home, Coldwater, Kan.

He was born Jan. 23, 1936 in Ness City, Kan. The son of Harvey and Esther Eichman Delaney. A longtime area resident he moved to Burdett in 1956, moving from Ness County; he was a John Deere Dealer for 50 years in Burdett, Kan.

He was a past member of the Burdett school board and the Nekoma State Bank board; was a member of the Tired Iron club of Kinsley, a board member of the Santa Fe Trail Center, the Burdett card club, county fair supporter for Pawnee, Rush, Hodgeman counties, was an air plane and helicopter pilot, enjoyed fishing, being the limo driver, traveling and was an avid dime player.

On Jan. 9, 1955 he married Barbara Ann Eichenberger in Scott City.  She passed away Jan. 29, 2019.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Delaney (Lynette), Larned and Jim (Kay) Delaney, Burdett; a daughter, Lori Ann Woods (Mike Conner), McCracken; a sister, JoAnn Rohr, Kansas City area; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Jack Delaney and a sister Faye Brown.

A private family service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary with pastor Doug Ellison presiding. Service will be viewable via facebook live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. A public graveside will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 8, 2020 at Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Santa Fe Trail Center, both in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
